MARKETING MAGIC

To achieve success in business it is essential to have strategic planning in place. There needs to be a focus on short term, mid term and long term goals. Shooting from the hip as challenges present themselves doesn't necessarily mean that you will hit the target. A key element of marketing success is to know the demographics of your clients and offer them goods and services which represent value.

The marketing mix consists of different business aspects working together to strengthen your brand and create sales. The four basic elements are: product, price, promotion and placement of which price is often the most significant factor. Over time, the marketing mix must be dynamic and adapt to changing business environments, resources, and most importantly, changes in product lifecycles.

At GeoGraphics Group we market a range of services which are evolving and in turn becoming more sophisticated to meet and/or exceed clients' expectations.

At Honeysett Press we embrace the latest technology in printing and publishing to offer our clients state-of-the-art books.

At Museum Imagineers, seeing is believing to tell a story and sell a story.

PICTURE THIS ... POSTCARD PERFECT

Museum Imagineers has been developing high quality PostCards for clients worldwide for many years to help further museums' missions and boost sales of custom merchandise. Our PostCards feature a hero shot (a main image from the museum or the museum's collection) on the front and tell a story about this image on the back. Museum Imagineers also ensures that our PostCards are practical for the customer to use, while also complying with respective postal standards such as free zones for high speed postal sorting and barcoding.

Find out more about PostCard production at www.geographicsgroup.com/museum/main.html and then click PostCards.

CHAPTER AND VERSE

C-3PO, R2-D2, George Jaksic
and Andrew Uchin, President,
MSA Western Chapter and
Store Manager, Norton Simon
Museum, Los Angeles.
Over the weekend of 14-16 October 2005, the Museum Store Association Western Chapter meeting was held at Pasadena (Los Angeles), California. George Jaksic and Eamon Fenwick attended the meeting on behalf of Mary MacKillop Place Museum and Museum Imagineers, respectively.

In addition to the annual business meeting, there were networking events and educational sessions involving museum store management and product development.

Several museums were visited including the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles which is currently hosting the Star Wars costumes exhibit, the Museum of Neon Art and the Pasadena Museum of History.

A highlight of our visit was an escorted tour by Isabel Loriente, Director of Retail Operations at The Cathedral of Our Lady of The Angels, at 555 West Temple Street, Los Angeles ... a house of prayer for all peoples ... go to www.olacathedral.org for more information.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

St Mary's Cathedral,
Sydney, Australia.
Several years ago our Museum Imagineers were presented with a challenge by Fr Tony Doherty, Dean of St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney, the Mother Church of Australian Catholics ... to find suitable images within the Cathedral's precinct which identify interesting aspects seen there by visitors. Research was carried out by polling parishioners and tourists to shortlist the most memorable items.

What did people from all walks of life and age groups highlight? ... angels, stained glass windows, Mary and Joseph, the Tabernacle, the Altar, interior and exterior building features, the Crypt and the Baptismal Fount.

The hottest selling image in any museum is a quality photograph of the exterior entrance of the building. Just prior to arranging a helicopter shoot, we found an elevated position in a Sydney skyscraper which gave us a brilliant line of sight, featuring the huge Cathedral building, foreground aspects of Hyde Park, background aspects of Woolloomooloo's famous Finger Wharf and Sydney Harbour with a flotilla of pleasure craft. This shot took two days to arrange as well as much patience awaiting perfect weather and composition. The $1500 cost of this exercise has since been amortised into over 100,000 BookMarks and PostCards. Find out about St Mary's Cathedral at www.sydney.catholic.org.au ... FABER EST

The Fort Street Logo.
Fort Street High School is the oldest continuing secondary school in Australia, founded in 1849. It celebrated its sesquicentenary in 1999. Some 20 years ago the team at Honeysett Press designed the school's logo, incorporating elements from the boys' and girls' schools from the late 19th and early 20th century.

The alumni association is known as The Fortians Union and GeoGraphics Group recently produced a special edition of its newsletter, Faber Est, which had an extended section featuring Fort Street Foundation news.
